Our sweet Katelyn was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth, as we knew exactly what to look for through DNA testing. This early diagnosis has been such a blessing, as we have known from the very beginning of her life how to care for her, setting her on a path for good health from the start.

As ideal as this early diagnosis was, Katelyn has still already encountered a number of infections, and has required several different medications and treatments to keep her as healthy as possible.

Katelyn needs digestive enzymes with every meal to help her absorb the fat and nutrients from her milk and food. She also has a diet high in fat, as her body only absorbs a portion of the fat she consumes. 

In additional to this nutritional care, Katelyn needs daily breathing treatments with a nebulizer and Chest Physical Therapy with the use of a PEP mask - a small device that helps her cough up the mucus in her lungs. Extra physical activity also helps keep her as healthy as possible.
